When I thought of creating a blog I wondered what in the world would I write about, well after much though it hit me -- write about what I adore -- ***FASHION***HAIR STYLES***MAKEUP
Hate to give away my age -- but I loved the Sixties -- even though we were in a war and lost of things were chaning in out world -- in my opinion it was a great time to grow up in and start my life as an adult out of High School.
So my first blog write up is going to be about 60's fashion...........if you are not old enough to remember these fashions....some have come back into trend and I think you will enjoy.
♥ "Fashions fade, style is eternal" ♥
Jackie Kennedy inspired this popular look....
Sixties Fashion was exciting. It could be colorful or drab, fashion forward or laid-back, tailored or relaxed, designer or tie-dyed it was a smorgasbord of styles. It was a time of political and social unrest and nothing portrayed those conflicts more clearly than the fashion. Styles which were previously driven by the necessities of the middle class and elite were now being designed for young people who constituted a newly empowered market. This new market wanted it new, fresh and definitely their way.
Other very popular styles of the sixties which proved to be
more enduring were the mini skirt and bell bottom pants.
more enduring were the mini skirt and bell bottom pants.
The mini was the most seen fashion modification of the decade. It was worn by everyone from the trendiest celebrities to office workers, to housewives.
Along with the birth control pill nothing else empowered women as much. The mini embodied the growing woman's movement portraying both their individuality and sexuality. Travel had an influence on 1960's fashion as well. The use of "modern" materials such as plastics and shiny metallic fabrics dominated the high fashion scene for a time.
Nancy Sinatra helped to popularize the "Mini" don't forget those "boots").
Montgomery Ward's 1961 Shirtwaist of tropical colors printed on all cotton. Kerchief included. Sanforized. $22.84
This is another look inspired by Jackie Kennedy....
Montgomery Ward 1964 Pure Silk Shantung. Modified A-Line style. Overblouse shaped with curved bodice seam caught by a bow.$17.84
The other 1960s fashion style was in a lot of ways much more of a departure from what had been the status quo. With it's bright colors, leg revealing lengths, and hyper tailored designs Mod Fashions were a must for the "in crowd". Designers like Cardin, Emilio Pucci and Paco Rabanne jumped on this fashion trend to showcase their talents.

Hippie fashion was relaxed, easy, inexpensive
and best of all anti-establishment.
Its relevance in fashion was fairly narrow but the impact the youth who wore it had on society, music, culture and politics was substantial.
Well friends, so far I have only barely talked about the "Fads" of fashion in the Sixties -- I will continue my trip through those Fabulous times..it certainly left a mark on the Fashion World that still translates into some of the fashion today.
Fashions, fads and slang.....What we wear, what we say, and what makes us a little crazy tells a lot about a culture. The Sixties made the culture of that era unforgettable.......it was "cool"....
Stayed tuned -- next time I will talk about more fashion.....Hair Styles and let's don't forget the make-up of the "SIXTIES".....
In the coming months I will also be talking about Music♥ Cars♥
and much, much more...♥♥♥♥
